teak wood:
Teak wood can be used for indoors and outdoors and is a great choice for the tropics. It is valuable for both its elegance and its durability and is consistently among the most expensive. Beyond its beauty, it also possesses some natural properties that other woods don't have like its abundance of natural oils and rubber locked right into the tight grain of the wood.

Maintaining teak wood:
You don’t have to use preservatives or treatments of any kind to ensure the longevity of your outdoor teak. Oiling teak is only recommended if you are planning on using the furniture indoors. Using pledge for indoor furniture is highly recommended especially if you are using air-conditioning which dries this type of wood.
When left outdoors teak furniture will naturally weather to a silver gray color. You will begin to notice the “graying” after a few months, depending on the amount of sun and rain your furniture is exposed to. Total weathering usually takes about 6-8 months. While the silver-grey color of weathered teak adds to its rustic appeal, some may prefer to restore the furniture to its original deep honey color. This can be done, with some effort, and will need to be repeated on an annual basis if the furniture is exposed to sunlight throughout the summer months. Here’s how:

- Wash teak pieces with soap and water and a soft bristle brush; allow to dry.
- Apply a teak brightener to restore the original color then rinse. The original color can also be brought back by lightly sanding the entire surface of each piece, always working in the direction of the grain.
- Apply a UV blocking teak sealant and allow to dry.
- The teak sealant should maintain the original color of the wood for about one year. The application of teak oil is not recommended as it promotes mildew growth.

Mango wood furniture is made from Mango trees which grow to massive sizes in tropical climates. As these trees reach their maximum sizes in Indonesia, they are difficult to harvest and the trees stops bearing fruit. The wood is taken from old trees at mango fruit plantations which are cleared periodically to make space for new trees which are replanted. Mango wood is a hard, dense wood with magnificent variation in its grain patterns and colors.
